Publishing:

Have you thought of starting a ministry but don’t know how to start? You are at the right place, this program is for you. Not only will you write a book but you will learn all phases of publishing. Publishing is a 16 credit thesis or dissertation program where students learn all phases of publishing and marketing while writing their own books. Along with project design this is one of the premiere programs at GCU.

Completion of writing program requirements leads to a Certificate in christian literature writing.

What is this program?
This is a thesis or dissertation option for graduate or doctoral students. Students choose one of three thesis or dissertation options that are unique and only offered at GCU:
  1. A conventional thesis or dissertation
    2. Project design and development
    3. Publishing

Who should choose this program?

    2. Students who want to publish and promote a book
    3. Students who see themselves as pursuing a writing and publishing ministry, as speakers, teachers, or simply want to share a story (fictional or nonfiction).

Why enroll in this program?

  1. Writing a book can go a long way in showcasing your ministry resume.
    2. There is a French saying that “the words [disappear] but the writings [remain],” the writing form is the best way of reaching out to people that you may never meet in your lifetime and after you pass away people will still impact people through your work.

    3. In this program you will learn all the phases of publishing to successfuly promoting your book.
    4. A good book well promoted can provide substancial ministry oportunities, and profit from sales.
    5. You can start a career as a writer, speaker, editor, pastor, evangelist, missionary, anything God called you to do.

How will students implement this knowledge?

  1. Students who choose the publishing thesis/dissertation option should decide prior to enrolling what subject they would like to write about because master or doctoral theses/dissertations start at the time or enrollment and run parallel to course requirements.
    2. Once the subject has been chosen a project proposal will be submitted to the instructor, if approved the student will proceed with the project.
    3. Although some subjects of the program will be taught prior to effectively starting the writing phase, most of the project will be taught parallel to the execution of the project.
