STC107 Introduction to Systematic Theology

GCU course description
This course exposes the subject of systematic theology as a science. Its basic purpose is to acquaint the learner with foundational knowledge of systematic theology as a discipline rather than the study of Biblical doctrines. This course will equip learners with the tools necessary to approach the subject with an informed mindset about various approaches traditions and trends to theology.

Course objectives:
The learner will become aware of the subject of Systematic Theology as science involving more than just a list of Bible doctrines.
The student will be able to distinguish between different theological trends, and traditions.
Based on acquired knowledge, the student will develop an informed theological approach to scriptural interpretation and teaching by learning how to test and critique the validity of their faith traditions.
The goal of sound theology is to unable the student to develop a critical approach to the study of the scriptures, preserve ones own spiritual and ministerial integrity and accountability.
